Please congratulate the following players on their hard work as leaders for their teams and the WTHL!
Men's Division Player of the Week: Bryce Jones
Bryce started out his career playing Team Handball in the gym of Dakota High School, where he developed a love for the sport. Bryce has now been playing in the WTHL for several years with 4 years of Junior Provincials to add to his list of accomplishments. Bryce plays as a winger on his 2-time defending championship team, the Pikeys. His team captain, Jeremy Chopek, says that Bryce has been Pikey's pivotal "rookie" for the last 6 seasons and is just one of several Pikeys players who have double digits in scoring. Bryce sits at the top of this list with 57 goals in the last 13 games.
His teammates describe Bryce as a clutch scorer in tough situations and when their other players are struggling on offense. His team captain also says Bryce's favorite part of playing handball is being a Pikey.
We wish Bryce and his team all the best in the remainder of the season, as the Pikeys have shown to be consistent from season to season.
Women's Division Player of the Week: Kaitlin Muller
This is Kaitlin's 3rd season as a member of Gambit and, like the men's division player of the week, is also a Dakota High School Alumni Team Handball Player! Kaitlin shares another trait in common with Bryce as she currently plays as a winger, with hopes to move into a back position in the near future. Kaitlin currently sits in the top ten scoring leaders with 23 goals in 10 games that has helped her team stay near the top of the standings at 7-1-2.
Kaitlin's teammates describe her as a dedicated and motivated player that continues to push herself. She is always looking to improve herself and her team and is as good of a teammate off the court as she is on the court.
Kaitlin graduated from the University of Winnipeg with her Business Administration Degree and a fun fact that people wouldn't guess about her: At the moment, even though she is quite young, has been coaching volleyball for the last ten years!
Congratulations to Kaitlin and good luck to her and her team for the the rest of the season and in to playoffs!
