Featured Players of the Week!

Posted Sat Nov 16, 2013 - 10:51 AM

The WTHL will now be awarding weekly players of the week! This will include a short feature about that player and posted both on the homepage and in the "Players of the week" tab! Stay tuned for week 3!

Week Two:

Men's division Player of the Week: Matt Rayner

Matt has been playing the league for approximately 13 years and has 6 championships under his belt. Matt currently plays and captains his team, the Rebels. Matt is the son of Manitoba Team Handball legend, Brad Rayner and is the current leading scorer for the men's division. Matt has greatly contributed to helping his team go 3-0 by scoring an amazing 23 goals in 3 games and keeping the Rebels as one of only a few teams that remain undefeated. Matt is heavily involved in Manitoba Team Handball's High School League and works hard to keep developing the young players that come into our league! We wish Matt all the best for the rest of the season and good luck to his team in remaining one of the league's top teams.

Women's division Player of the Week: Jillian James

Jill has been playing on her team, Fury, for the last 6 years and has helped keep her team a constant contender for Women's division champions. Fury is coming off a winning season as last season's Champions and will look to make this year equally successful. Jill plays center back for her team and also has been playing for Manitoba's provincial team for 5 of the last 6 years, only taking the last year off before hopefully deciding to continue to play again. Jill now leads the women's division after 3 games with 14 goals and looks to increase that number this upcoming weekend, watch out opponents! Fun fact about Jill from her teammates; (although unconfirmed) Jill has a healthy obsession with the Royal Family, keeping tabs on all its members and its newest addition, Prince George. We wish Jill and her team the best this season and this upcoming weekend!

2013-2014 Season is fast approaching!

Posted Thu Oct 24, 2013 - 05:23 PM

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another exciting year of Team Handball! We are pleased to have some new additions to the website to make it easier to keep up to date with information concerning the league.

This year we plan to bring back the ability to track stats, you will be able to see how you did for each game and going forward, able to compare how you and your team did from season to season!

We will be sending out an email to team captains to get all players registered online. This will help with keeping accurate stats, being able to send out league information to all players and for keeping you in the loop for handball events and clinics put on by both the Manitoba Team Handball Federation and Winnipeg Team Handball League!

For information on how to register yourself for your team, check out the "Player Registration Tab" on the left <---. Schedule will be posted online or sent out at least to all team captains by tomorrow, October 25th! Season starts on Sunday, November 3rd, so be prepared to play! Loosen up, pull out the handball shoes and lets have a great season.

Take care,

Shawn Ward
