I collect prices from online stores for a product comparison website. Since I open hundreds of product pages during a workday, some stores start limiting access from my IP. I began using a VPN, and regular IP checkers show the new address, but the blocks still return and a few tests display my actual provider. Why does this happen, and how can I check whether the browser is leaking my real IP?

Check whether the VPN handles IPv6 and DNS requests along with regular web traffic. Either one can continue using your normal connection while the main IP checker shows the VPN address. Turn on the kill switch as well, so the browser can’t reconnect through your provider when the VPN drops for a few seconds. Run separate IPv6 and DNS leak tests before opening the store pages again.

The browser may also send network information through WebRTC, which regular IP checkers don’t always examine. That can expose another public address even though ordinary page traffic goes through the VPN. You can read what a WebRTC leak is here: https://gologin.com/blog/what-is-a-webrtc-leak/ . Run a WebRTC test and compare the displayed address with the one assigned by the VPN. If your provider appears, restrict direct WebRTC connections in the browser.
