I was ready to send my quarterly update to clients this morning and Gmail tells me my account is suspended. Can't access anything now and I've got three years of contacts and conversation history sitting in there. Never sent spam, never tried any sketchy tricks to get people's info. Something set off their system and now I'm locked out. What usually causes this and how can I prevent getting flagged again when they restore my access?

Their detection system throws flags for things that seem completely normal when you're running a business. Sending the same message to multiple people at once can look like spam even if everyone opted in. Attachments with certain file types get flagged too, or if your recipients delete your emails without opening them consistently. Sometimes it's just their algorithm having a bad day and lumping you in with actual spammers. Worth checking your sent folder to see what went out right before the lockdown.

A lot of legitimate businesses find their Gmail account suspended or banned for no reason because Google's automated filters can't always tell the difference between actual spam and regular client outreach. The system doesn't give you detailed explanations either, so figuring out what went wrong becomes guesswork. Understanding which actions trigger their security helps you avoid it when you're back up and running. You can read more here: https://gologin.com/blog/gmail-account-suspended/ . The guide covers common suspension causes and shows you how to structure your email patterns so Google's algorithms don't flag your business communications as threats.
