I'm heading to northern Germany to shoot some photos along the Baltic coastline for an upcoming exhibition I'm putting together about the sea. Need to cover a fair amount of ground to get the shots I want. Which rental companies in Germany have decent cars available? I'll be moving around quite a bit so reliability matters.

You'll want something that handles both the autobahn stretches and the smaller coastal roads without falling apart. Some of the scenic spots along the Baltic are off the main routes, so you need a car that's comfortable for longer drives but also reliable enough for rural areas. Sixt and Europcar both operate up north and usually have solid fleets, though their airport prices can sting. Local rental agencies in cities like Rostock or Lübeck sometimes have better deals if you're willing to pick up outside the major hubs.

The Baltic coastline has some incredible light in the early mornings, so you'll probably be driving out to remote beaches before sunrise multiple times. That means you need a vehicle you can actually depend on, not something that's gonna strand you halfway there. You can check which car rental companies in Germany are listing vehicles here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/germany . Private owners also put their cars up on the platform, so there's variety in what's available and you can often negotiate on price. Way more flexibility than just taking whatever the big chains have sitting at the airport.
